Danotek Motion Technologies LLC (Danotek), ISO 9001 Qualified, is a global leader in the development and commercialization of power generation systems utilizing high performance permanent magnets.

Founded in 2001 by three former GE engineers who were skilled at motor and generator design, their initial focus was on the development of small scale systems for automotive and distributed generation applications. Two of the founders, Mr. Dave Erdman, with 36 years at General Electric, known for his break-through market leading technology solutions in the permanent magnet and HVAC business has 41 patents utilizing brushless motors and electronic controls and Mr. Joe Miller, with 35 years at General Electric, who has an extensive quality control and manufacturing background, including QFD implementation with a GE/Ford product development program, as well as design and development experience, particularly in hermetic motors, remain actively engaged as Danotek Board members.

Variable power output from wind turbines arising from constantly changing wind speeds leads to conditions for which permanent magnet (PM) generators are ideally suited because of PM generators’ higher part-load efficiencies. Danotek’s founders recognized the potential market for PM generators in wind energy and within a short time were working alongside wind turbine manufacturers developing and testing prototype PM generators. Working close with turbine manufacturers confirmed an increasing demand for more efficient and reliable generation systems, demands that PM generators were well positioned to address.

Today Danotek develops, designs, assembles, tests and delivers highly efficient, durable, and competitive generation and motor drive systems for customers in the global wind energy, distributed generation, and transportation markets.

The company has several US patents awarded, with numerous patent application filings in process and disclosures logged in 2011. Patents and disclosures focus on: facilitating transport and assembly; reducing weight and cost; and optimizing performance and grid integration.

In keeping with our commitment to deliver systems that meet or exceed our customer’s expectations, Danotek has been an ISO 9001 approved facility since 2005 and is ISO 14000 compliant.

Danotek is the only supplier of PM generators for the wind industry headquartered in the United States; its facilities are located in Southeast Michigan in a region rich in technology and operations resources.
