Danotek Motion Technologies, LLC was established in November of 2000 to serve the transportation, energy and medical markets through development and production of innovations in advanced motor, generator, and integrated-control technologies. President and CEO, Daniel Gizaw, founded Danotek to offer key markets advanced and customized electro-mechanical drives, motors, and control systems that could be rapidly produced at a competitive price and at the highest level of quality.

In April 2001, Joseph Miller, Director of Manufacturing, and Dave Erdman, Director of Electronic Technology, joined Daniel Gizaw and the Danotek team—combining more than 35 years of engineering and advanced technical experience. In June 2001, Danotek was certified as a limited liability company and became Danotek Motion Technologies, LLC. In early 2002, Danotek established its Ann Arbor , Michigan office—a strategic location for reaching the automotive market and taking advantage of top academic resources.
